A couple interesting sites to look at/listen to for those who like me
are fascinated by the night sky. You can type or paste
into the address line or browser
and go there, but when I link it, we get an error or it goes somewhere
else. It's worth going there, at least to me, because it will give you
not only pics but sounds of the Perseids 2001 meteor shower.
Here's the meteor site:

The second
one is a series of really fascinating pics of the aurora storm that
took place this week. Go there and click on the pic of the aurora to
get some really nice pics of it from different parts of the globe. This
link worked earlier but isn't working now - another error message or a
xanga bug message. So, again, just the address.

RYC: Always good to hear from you, Dawn. Thanks for your feedback. And yes, this clear white wine is rice wine. If you've ever heard of Maotai, this is the same kind of wine, and it is made in this province. There are variations on it depending on locale, but here in China, I've never known it to be served warm, like sake is. It is always traditional for locals to offer this wine to foreigners or guests as a welcome to the town or village. One village I visited last summer had a wonderful sweet variety of this wine. They added a red fruit (I've only seen here) in the fermenting process so the wine was a little bit pink and a little more palatable. Very palatable, in fact.
We slept out on a deck high in the mountains during that meteor shower. Don't really have words for it.
thank you so much for your kind comment
